Special Leveraging Educational Assistance Partnership (SLEAP)

The Special Leveraging Educational Assistance Partnership (SLEAP) program is a need-based program designed to assist sophomore, junior or senior students who demonstrate substantial financial need as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).  Students must have a program of study (major) in Science, Technology, Engineering, Math (STEM) or Education programs at any regionally or nationally accredited institution in the State of Arizona.  Funds are limited and awarded on a first-come, first-served basis at the time of application completion.  Maximum award is $2,000.  Funds can be applied toward any educational expense documented in the student’s Cost of Attendance (COA) at their institution.  

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be a resident of Arizona for at least the previous 12 months at the time of application completion.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or an eligible noncitizen.
  • Must be enrolled at least half-time in a regionally or nationally accredited Arizona postsecondary institution. 
  • Must be a sophomore, junior or senior college student.
  • Must have a program of study in a Science, Technology, Engineering, Math (STEM) or Education.   
  • Must be seeking an Associate or Bachelor degree.
  • Must have substantial need as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). 
  • Must maintain satisfactory academic progress as determined by the institution

Program Details:

  • Students must reapply each year for the grants as they are not automatically renewable. 
  • Students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) each academic year.  The Commission will automatically receive a copy of the FAFSA once it is processed by the US Department of Education.
